Melanie Lewis

Melanie Lewis is the founder of SENSiBiLiZER and has spent over two decades working at the intersection of ecological research, systems thinking, and social innovation. Her practice is built on a simple conviction: that better thinking produces better systems, and better systems help the planet heal.

Trained as a marine ecologist and later as a Stanford University Innovation Fellow at the d.school, Melanie brings a rare combination of scientific rigour and creative design practice to the programs and strategies she leads. She works with universities, incubators, startups, community organisations, schools, and Rotary to help people think differently about the problems in front of them.

Her doctoral research at the University of Technology Sydney explored the role of Knowledge Innovation Communities in accelerating climate action. She completed six years of research before choosing to withdraw, deciding that direct practice would create more meaningful impact than an academic thesis. She intends to publish the work as a book.

She lives and works in Sydney, Australia.
